Rutgers University Librarian's Academic Excellence

Rutgers University Libraries help students access and evaluate information, an essential 21st-century skill both inside and outside the classroom. In the coming year, we are expanding our instruction initiatives with the goal of reaching every single student at Rutgers. We’ll teach them how to locate and use high-quality information—from peer-reviewed research to trustworthy news articles.

Funds will be used to develop online tutorial content that can be embedded into learning management systems like Canvas, which students across the university use to access their course materials.

Why are donations necessary?

Simply put, libraries are drivers of academic success. Research shows that students who use libraries are 44% more likely to graduate after four years, and that students with library instruction incorporated into their classes have higher cumulative GPAs than those who don’t.
